Availability of the Official Release of ENDF/B VI
The purpose of this memorandum is to announce the release of the latest Evaluated
Nuclear Data File (ENDF) for general use at ORNL. ENDF/B-VI evaluations are
released with no restrictions on their distribution or use. RSIC continues to be the
ORNL point of contact for receiving and distributing nuclear data in ENDF/B format.
As a reminder, the DOE restrictions on ENDF/B-V are still in effect. Please
continue to coordinate with RSIC in responding to ENDF/B-V interest outside
ORNL.
The following ENDF/B-VI Tapes have been processed through CHECKR, FIZCON,
and PSYCHE. They are:
ENDF/B-VI Tapes 100-117, neutron sublibraries
ENDF/B-VI Tapes 118-119, thermal scattering sublibraries
ENDF/B-VI Tapes 700-706, photon interaction sublibraries
ENDF/B-VI Tape 800, neutron sublibrary (high energy Fe)
ENDF/B-VI Tape 801, proton sublibrary (high energy Fe).
The final ENDF/B-VI sublibraries for charged particles, radioactive decay data and
fission product yields are expected in the fall of this year.
To avoid duplication of effort, a compilation by R. Q. Wright of useful information
about the contents of selected neutron sublibraries is provided as Attachment #1.
To facilitate the use of Table 1 in the attachment, entries in the MAT and OTHER
columns may need clarification. They are:
MAT(*), new evaluation for ENDF/B-VI
OTHER (GAMMA), material has gamma-ray production data
OTHER (MF=6), File 6 energy and angle data given.
Table 1 in the attachment is also available on diskette from R. Q. Wright if anyone
is interested.
As a reminder to some, new evaluations for natural elements are not available in
ENDF/B-VI. Cross sections are provided on an isotopic basis.
Please contact me if you have any questions or wish access to ENDF/B-VI data.
