RSICC CODE PACKAGE PSR-469
1. NAME AND TITLE
WREM--TOODEE2--MOD3: 2-D Time-Dependent Fuel Element, Thermal Analysis Code System.
2. CONTRIBUTORS
U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C., through the Energy, Science and Technology Software Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency Data Bank, Issy-les-Moulineaux, France.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
Fortran IV; CDC7600 and IBM 360/370 (P00469ALLMF00).
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
WREM-TOODEE2 is a two dimensional, time-dependent, fuel-element thermal analysis program. Its primary purpose is to evaluate fuel-element thermal response during post-LOCA refill and reflood in a pressurized water reactor (PWR).
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
TOODEE2 calculations are carried out in a two-dimensional mesh region defined in slab or cylindrical geometry by orthogonal grid lines. Coordinates which form order pairs are labeled x-y in slab geometry, and those in cylindrical geometry are labeled r-z for the axisymmetric case and r-theta for the polar case. Conduction and radiation are the only heat transfer mechanisms assumed within the boundaries of the mesh region. Convective and boiling heat transfer mechanisms are assumed at the boundaries. The program numerically solves the two-dimensional, time-dependent, heat conduction equation within the mesh region.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
WREM-TOODEE2 considers only axisymmetric geometry although the equations for slab and polar geometry are included in the program.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
The sample problem executed in about 3 minutes on a CDC CYBER175.
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Two hardware versions code system are available. One ran on CDC 7600 and Cyber 175. The other ran on IBM 360/370 computers.
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
The CDC version ran under SCOPE 2.4 and NOS 1.3. The IBM version ran under the IBM OS/360 or 370 operating system. A Fortran IV compiler is required. The codes were tested at NESC in 1976 and 1981. They were not retested or modified when transferred to RSICC and released in September 2001.
