Q&A: Questions and Answers Based on Revised 10 CFR Part 20.

4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED

The program is identical to NUREG/CR-6204 which is a collection of questions and answers originally issued in seven sets that pertain to revised 10 CFR Part 20. The questions came from outside and within the NRC. The answers were compiled and provided by NRC staff within the offices of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, Nuclear Regulatory Research, the Office of State Programs, and the five regional offices. Although all of the questions and answers have been reviewed by attorneys in the NRC Office of the General Counsel, they do not constitute official legal interpretations relevant to revised 10 CFR Part 20. The questions and answers do, however, reflect NRC staff decisions and technical opinions on aspects of the revised 10 CFR Part 20 regulatory requirements.

5. METHOD OF SOLUTION

An executable file in DOS format suitable to run on IBM-compatible personal computers, the program searches through the Q&A data base to retrieve those of user interest. The program will search the data base for selected topics by regulatory code and by word search similar to a word processor.

6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS

None noted.

7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

Varies with machine speed. Typically, files of selected topics are displayed within 30 seconds.

8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Q&A executes on IBM-compatible personal computers and requires less than 2MB of hard disk space.

9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The database was written in FoxPro and Clipper, and the executable can be run in a DOS window of Windows95.
