4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED

This searchable dBASE II data base of NRC generic communications includes bulletins, circulars, and information notices. Each communication is categorized by general system or topic, specific component or topic, cause or defect, potential effect, or vendor.



5. METHOD OF SOLUTION

GCI is written in a user-friendly, menu-driven form. This index is made up of one record each for all bulletins, circulars, and information notices, including revisions and supplements from 1971 when such documentation started through 1986.



6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS

None noted.



7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

The code is interactive.



8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

GCI was developed for IBM personal computers running DOS in the1980's. All programs files require 1.2 MB disk space.



9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The dBASE III software (or equivalent) is required to run this package. GCI was developed under DOS 2 and first submitted to NESC at Argonne National Laboratory in 1989. ESTSC sucessfully tested the program in September 22, 1992, on an IBM 486 compatible personal computer under DOS 5.0 with FoxPro/LAN 2.0. It was not tested when transferred to RSICC and released in October 2002. RSICC made no changes to the package.
