RSICC CODE PACKAGE PSR-420
1. NAME AND TITLE
DEPOSITION 1.03: Particle Penetration Through Aerosol Transport Lines.
2. CONTRIBUTORS
Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas through the Energy
Science and Technology Software Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
TURBO BASIC; IBM PC (P00420IBMPC00).
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
DEPOSITION1.03 is an interactive software program which was developed
for the design and analysis of aerosol transport lines. Models are presented
for calculating aerosol particle penetration through straight tubes of
arbitrary orientation, inlets, and elbows. An expression to calculate effective
depositional velocities of particles on tube walls is derived. The concept
of maximum penetration is introduced, which is the maximum possible penetration
through a sampling line connecting any two points in a three-dimensional
space. A procedure to predict optimum tube diameter for an existing transport
line is developed. Note that there is a discrepancy in this package which
includes the DEPOSITION 1.03 executable and the DEPOSITION 2.0 report.
RSICC was unable to obtain other executables or reports.
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
An interactive menu driven software system entitled DEPOSITION has been
developed to perform above said tasks. This code can either be used on
a PC or on a mainframe. The use and illustration of the software is described
in Appendix A of the report.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
None noted.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
Program is interactive.
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
IBM PS/2 or IBM PC. This code can be used on a PC.
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
DEPOSITION is written in Turbo Basic. The source is NOT included. The
included executable was tested at RSICC on a Pentium in a DOS window of
Windows95.

11. CONTENTS OF CODE PACKAGE
Included in the package are the referenced document and one 3.5" DS/HD
DOS formatted diskette which contains the DEPOSITION executable and executable
control file for protecting against unauthorized duplication, and a readme
file. No source code is provided.
