RSIC CODE PACKAGE PSR-296

1. NAME AND TITLE

NJOY-UTIL-EIR: Utilities For the NJOY (6/83) Nuclear Data Processing System.

2. CONTRIBUTOR

Swiss Federal Institute for Reactor Research, Würenlingen, Switzerland, through NEA Data Bank, Gif-sur-Yvette Cedex, France.

3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER

Fortran IV; CDC CYBER 825.

4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED

NJOY-UTIL-EIR complements the NJOY (6/83) nuclear data processing system. The eight modules in the system have the following functions: collapsing of groupwise files, combining of ENDF/B formatted files, separation of one file, plotting of cross sections or differences between two cross section files and combining ACE cross section files.

5. METHOD OF SOLUTION

COLLGR was developed to collapse multigroup cross section GENDF data.

ECOMBR combines two ENDF, PENDF or GENDF binary cross section files given in either ENDF/B-IV or in ENDF/B-V format.

SEPR separates from a given PENDF, GENDF or ENDF/B file required materials and temperatures.

DICTR prints a list of available isotopes.

MANAGR copies ENDF, PENDF, or GENDF binary files and change their format from ENDF/B-IV to ENDF/B-V or vice versa.

EPLOTR (based on EVALPLOT (PSR-211) is designed to read evaluated data from the ENDF/B format and to plot the data.

CPLOTR (based on COMPLOT (PSR-259)) is designed to compare ENDF/B formatted data from two separate input tapes. Reactions are comparable if they have the same (ZA,MT). Results are presented in graphical form.

ACOMBR inserts or deletes cross section ACE files to or from the coded ACE cross section library.

6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS

EPLOTR uses only the ENDF/B BCD format. For CPLOTR, cross sections must be either in histogram or linearly interpolatable form.

7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

On a CDC 7600, it takes 6.2 minutes to plot the entire ENDL library in the ENDF/B format (1132 plots, including 384 cross sections, 506 of angular distributions, and 292 of energy distributions).

8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

NJOY-UTIL-EIR runs on the CDC Cyber 825. The graphics uses the CALCOMP plotter for the CDC EMOS system.

9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The code was written in Fortran IV.
