1. NAME AND TITLE
COMPAR: Compares Multigroup Cross Sections Generated by NJOY, GROUPIE, FLANGE-II, ETOG-3 and XLACS.
2. CONTRIBUTOR
Aerospace Technology Center, Institute of Advanced Studies, Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
Fortran 77; CDC Cyber 170/750.
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
COMPAR is a computer program developed to compare multigroup cross sections generated by
the codes NJOY, GROUPIE, FLANGE-II, ETOG-3 and XLACS.
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
COMPAR evaluates multigroup neutron cross sections for the elastic scattering, capture and fission
reactions for one or more materials from various previously formatted files. Thus, it is possible to
analyze the influence of files 2 (resonances) and 3 (background) of the evaluated nuclear data libraries.
The COMPAR system consists of the following interface modules: REDCOMP, FLACOMP,
ETOCOMP, and XLACOMP. These programs correspond to the cross section processing programs
GROUPIE, FLANGE-II, ETOG-3, and XLACS respectively. NJOY GENDF data may be converted
to COMPAR format using PSR-239/RGENDF.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
Refer to Appendix A of the referenced document for information on limitations.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
The following execution times were noted on the CDC Cyber 170/750 for three selected problems (input tape = TAPE10).
COMPAR
CTAPE101 0.95 seconds
CTAPE102 0.62 seconds
CTAPE103 0.55 seconds
FLACOMP 0.10 seconds
ETOCOMP 0.20 seconds
XLACOMP 0.41 seconds
REDCOMP 2.48 seconds
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
The code runs on the CDC Cyber 170/750.
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
The codes execute with the CDC FTN5 compiler under NOS 2.5.3.
