1. NAME AND TITLE
SMOG: Code System for Neutron Cross Section Evaluation (Optical Method).
2. CONTRIBUTOR
Centro di Calcolo dell' ENEA, Bologna, Italy, through the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency Data
Bank, Gif-sur-Yvette, France.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
Fortran IV; IBM 3033.
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
SMOG evaluates neutron cross sections by using the optical method.
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
For numerical integration, the Fox-Goodwins method is used. Many types of optical potential are
allowed.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
Angular momentum of 1 less than or equal to 20 is required.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
No study has been made by RSIC of typical running times for SMOG.
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
SMOG is operable on the IBM 3033. It requires 110 K bytes.
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
A Fortran IV compiler is required. The program is executed under IBM MVS-SP.
