LMOD: Selects materials from a master ASCII CCCC ISOTXS file and places them on a CCCC file for input to ANISN/PC (available in CCC-514/ANISN/PC).

4. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND INFORMATION

In order to solve a realistic shielding problem for either a neutron or gamma source, it is necessary to generate cross sections using AMPX-II (PSR-063) with the VITAMIN-4C (DLC-53) master library on a mainframe and then copy the generated cross section onto the ANISN/PC 'array 14 **'. This procedure is very cumbersome. In order to overcome the difficulty, IRAN-LIB was created. IRAN-LIB stands for Improved Range of ANISN/PC Library.

5. APPLICATION OF THE DATA

The library is designed for radiation shielding applications for use with CCC-514/IBMPC00/ANISN-PC.

6. SOURCE AND SCOPE OF DATA

The cross sections were taken from the VITAMIN-4C master library using the AMPX-II system and the ENDF/B-IV, ENDF/B-V and JENDL/3 master libraries using the NJOY (PSR-171) code. Since IRAN-LIB was developed mainly for shielding purposes, the elements selected for the library are those which are most encountered in shielding materials.

7. DISCUSSION OF THE DATA RETRIEVAL PROGRAMS

The module LMOD in CCC-514/ANISN/PC selects materials from the ISOTXS file and writes them on a CCCC file.

Card images; IBM PC.

9. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

The time required to create an H-1 library from IRAN1.LIB is about 30 seconds. Creating U-235 from the same library takes about 135 seconds.
