1. NAME AND TITLE
FISP-6: An Enhanced Code for the Evaluation of Fission Product Inventories and Decay Heat
2. CONTRIBUTOR
Berkeley Nuclear Laboratories, England through NEA Data Bank, France.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
Fortran IV, IBM 3090
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
FISP-6 calculates fission product inventory and release rates in irradiated fuel using a point model
for irradiation and cooling conditions specified by the user.
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
FISP-6 uses an analytical solution with linearized build-up and decay chains of the fission products.
Using a particular form of the general solution, the code is able to reduce the problems of rounding
errors.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
None noted.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
The sample problems took 15.6 seconds on an IBM 3090 at NEA-DB.
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
FISP-6 runs on IBM mainframes (IBM 3090).
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
A Fortran IV compiler is required.
