1. NAME AND TITLE
RADSHIP-2: Code System To Analyze Radiological Impact From Radwaste Transportation.
2. CONTRIBUTOR
Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, Taiwan, Republic of China.
3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER
Fortran; FACOM-M200 and IBM 3033.
4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED
RADSHIP-2 is a computer code system used to analyze the environmental impact of radwaste
transportation in Taiwan. The specific transport scheme including the land transport by truck and sea
transport by ship or barge were considered in the analysis for normal transport and transport accident
conditions. The code combines meteorological, population, health physics, transportation, packaging
and material factors and has the capability to obtain the results of the expected annual population
radiation exposure, the expected number of annual latent cancer fatalities and the annual probability
of a given number of early fatalities.
5. METHOD OF SOLUTION
RADSHIP-2 is based on the health effects model used in the RADTRAN code and tailored to the
actual transportation situation in Taiwan. The falling-off factors to take account for the dose decreasing
away from the transport package were precalculated using CCC-307/QAD-CG and built into
RADSHIP-2 for the population dose assessment during truck transportation.
6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS
Restrictions are limited to the dimensions of the variables in the Fortran source of RADSHIP-2.
7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME
The sample problem took less than one second on the IBM 3033.
8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
The code was developed on the FACOM-M200 and tested on the IBM 3033.
9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
A Fortran IV compiler was used on the FACOM-M200, and the IBM VS compiler specifying
language level 77 was used on the IBM.
