HEATING 7.3 was added to the HEATING7.2i package in March 1997. Fortran sources are essentially the same for Unix and PC and are included for both systems. Executables are provided only for Windows operating systems and have been tested on personal computers running Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista. In August 2007, the Windows package was updated with the addition of a verification report for HEATING7.3 and corresponding test case input and output files plus an executable that allows one to run in batch mode from the DOS prompt. The executable in the previous P199MNYCP05 package ran interactively with a simple GUI that prompted the user for an input file name. Because there were problems on some Windows systems, the interactive executable was removed from this distribution. The alternate executable allows one to run many cases using a batch file and is more portable among Windows systems. HEATING 7.3 includes some Fortran 90 features. Executables for the Windows version were created using Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6 under WindowsXP. They can also be run under Windows 2000 and Windows Vista. HEATING7.3 for Unix was tested only on IBM RS/6000 under AIX using C and XLF 3.2 compilers. The code was not tested on other platforms. Except for modifications to Subroutine MENSURAL in HEATING 7.3 in 2002, the Unix versions have not been updated since the 1990's and will require modifications to run on current systems. Heating7.2i ran on several UNIX platforms in the 1990's including Cray (UNICOS), IBM RS/6000, Sun, DEC workstations running Ultrix and DEC Alpha running OSF/1, and HP. No future modifications are planned for HEATING7.
