The code was tested at RSICC on an IBM SP3 under AIX with mpxlf90 and mpcc compilers. PENELOPE-MPI extends capabilities of PENELOPE-2001 by providing for usage of MPI type parallel drivers and extends the original versions ability to read different types of input data sets such as voxel data. The physics of the calculations were not changed, and the original documentation is still valid. The Indiana University Medical Center's Radiation Oncology Department and University Information Technology Services at Indiana University adapted PENELOPE-2001 to increase efficiency of Monte Carlo simulations for medical applications. PENELOPE-2001 (NEA-1525/05; RSICC C00682MNYCP02) was developed by the Universitat de Barcelona and Institut de Tècniques Energètiques, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, and the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Argentina. ReadmeIU.txt is the only new documentation for PENELOPE-MPI. The Penelope Forum list archives and other information can be accessed at http://www.nea.fr/lists/penelope.html File penelope\report\manual.txt contains some general information about Penelope-2001 package contents. The installation section of manual.txt contains guidance on compiling and loading executables. Sample input files are included. See the reference document in file report\penelope.pdf: F. Salvat, J.M. Fernandez-Varea E. Costa, and J. Sempau, “PENELOPE - A Code System for Monte Carlo Simulation of Electron and Photon Transport,” Workshop Proceedings, Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, ISBN:92-64-18475-9 (5-7 November 2001). Chapter 6 contains information on code structure and operation. The installation section beginning on page 200 contains a brief description of fortran files.
