CHANGES TO THE COMPUTER CODE COLLECTION

One newly frozen version of an existing code system was added to the code collection.

PSR-355/NJOY94.10

OP SYS: CTSS, UNICOS, UNIX

Language: Fortran 77

Computers: many

Format: tar

Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico, contributed a newly frozen version of this code system for producing pointwise and multigroup cross sections from ENDF/B evaluated nuclear data, including ENDF/B-VI. The new version designated NJOY94.10 has been used to process all of the materials from ENDF/B-VI Release 3 into PENDF format, ACE format, and a 69-group library. In the course of this work, a few additional problems were found and corrected by updates 6-10, which involve changes to the thermr, error, acer and njoy modules. Users who have NJOY 94.5 may request updates only in the up10 file.

The NJOY94.10 release is basically configured for UNIX. The test problem input files are UNIX shell scripts, and the test problem results are from runs on a Cray Y-MP8/4-64 running UNICOS. The code runs on Cray/UNICOS, Cray/CTSS, IBM, VAX/VMS, and Sun workstations. The package is transmitted on either 1 CD-ROM, DC-6150 (150 MB) cartridge, 4-mm, or 8-mm tape in tar format. References: LA-12740-M (Oct. 1994). Fortran 77; Cray (CTSS & UNICOS), VAX/VMS, SUN/UNIX; IBM/AIX (P00355/MFMWS/01).

CHANGES TO THE DATA LIBRARY COLLECTION

Two changes were made to data library collection. An existing data library was updated with additional documentation and new data library was added to the collection.

DLC-181/MCNPDAT6

OP SYS: all

Language: Fortran 77

Computers: all

Format: tar, DOS

The Los Alamos National Laboratory developers have recommended a document update to the MCNPDAT6 package, which consists of standard neutron cross-sections derived from ENDF/B-VI, photon interaction, and electron data libraries for use with CCC-200/MCNP4A. RSIC will update the package abstract to advise users how to modify the XSDIR file distributed in the MCNPDAT6 package for use with MAKXSF. Prior to running MAKXSF, one must edit XSDIR to delete lines 213-321. This modification is not required for use with MCNP; it is only required for MAKXSF.

MCNPDAT6 is distributed on either CD-ROM, DC 6150 (150 MB), 4 mm DAT (8 GB), or 8 mm (2.3 GB) cartridge tapes in compressed tar format. It is alternately available on either CD-ROM or QIC-80 tape in DOS format. References: LA-12891 (Dec. 1994). Fortran 77; All Computers (D00181/ALLCP/00).

DLC-183/FENDL-1.0

OP SYS: UNIX

Language: Fortran 77

Computers: all

Format: tar

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Data Section (NDS) contributed the first version of an internationally available Fusion Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (FENDL-1), which was developed in co-operation with several national nuclear data centers and research groups. The IAEA coordinates the assembling, processing, and testing of the FENDL library. The FENDL library has been selected to serve as a comprehensive source of processed and tested nuclear data tailored to the requirements of the Engineering and Development Activities (EDA) of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Project and other fusion-related development projects. As the data are in ENDF-6 and well known processed formats (REAC, GENDF, MATXS, and ACE), no retrieval codes are included in this package. The present version of FENDL consists of the following sublibraries:

  • FENDL/A-1.1: neutron-activation cross sections below 20 MeV for stable and unstable nuclides with half-lives longer than day, selected from different available sources, for 636 nuclides and processed into PENDF (pointwise ENDF-6 format) using the PSR-351/PREPRO-94 pre-processing codes LINEAR/RECENT/ FIXUP. These data can be used in calculations of activation resulting from the transport of plasma-source neutrons and secondary gamma rays.
  • FENDL/C-1.0: data for the fusion reactions D(d,n), D(d,p), T(d,n), T(t,2n), He-3(d,p) extracted from ENDF/B-6 and processed.
  • FENDL/D-1.0: nuclear decay data for 2900 nuclides in ENDF-6 format, extracted from ENDF/B-6 and ENSDF.
  • FENDL/DS-1.0: neutron activation data for dosimetry by foil activation.
  • FENDL/E-1.0: basic evaluated data, in ENDF-6 format, for coupled neutron-photon transport calculations. It includes the basic evaluations for neutron interaction and photon production for 63 elements and isotopes, selected from ENDF/B-6, JENDL-3, or BROND-2, and a photon-atom interaction data library for 34 elements taken from ENDF/B-6. The FENDL/E-1.0 data were processed with PSR-355/NJOY94.
  • BENCHMARKS: this sublibrary contains compiled descriptions and results of fusion benchmark experiments, for validation of above mentioned FENDL working nuclear data libraries.
  • FENDL/MC-1.0: this sublibrary contains pointwise neutron, photon-atom and coupled neutron-photon cross sections in ACE format for use in MCNP4A.
  • FENDL/MG-1.0: this sublibrary contains multigroup neutron and coupled neutron-photon multigroup cross section data files in GENDF format and neutron, photon-atom and coupled neutron-photon multigroup data in MATXS format.
FENDL-1.0 is distributed only as UNIX-compressed tar files on either CD-ROM, DC-6150, 4-mm, or 8-mm cartridge. The uncompressed files require a minimum of 1 gigabyte (GB) of disk space. Users may request the individual sublibraries as noted above.
